MEET KINGSGATE’S IT TEAMSeptember 16 2019
Tomorrow September 17th is National IT Professionals Day. In last week’s blog, I discussed the massive growth in our IT department. In the past year, we’ve more than doubled our IT staff and made a seven-figure investment into advancing our logistics technology and how it can benefit our employees, carriers and our customers. Only five months ago, our technology team consisted of three people and today it’s at fourteen. I wanted to introduce some of our team who is working behind the scenes to make incredible strides in logistics technology:
BECCA H. | JR. HELP DESK SPECIALIST | 2+ YEARS
Describe your role at Kingsgate | I head up the help desk operation and review and reply to technical/software issue tickets and set up new hires with equipment and software permissions.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | My favorite part about being in the tech field is that I get to talk to everyone in the Kingsgate Family and help resolve issues that make a big difference in Kingsgate’s day-to-day flow of operations. I’m also learning something new every day – Information Technology is constantly growing and updating.
HARITMA S. | SENIOR DEVELOPER | 1 MONTH+
Describe your role at Kingsgate |I work on corporate web projects, assist interns and resolve technical issues.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | I love that there is always something new to learn and I enjoy the challenge associated with it. Every day is a fun day at work and there are tons of opportunities for everyone to learn.
JOHN R. | NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR | 12 YEARS
Describe your role at Kingsgate |I ensure that everyone and everything on the network is running smooth, connections are secure, and work diligently to ensure the “bad guys” stay out. I also enjoy making sure our own customers, both internal and external, have what they need in order to do their position effectively and efficiently.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | One of the best parts with being in IT is that you never stop learning. The opportunity to stretch your mind and your own viewpoint on the world is available daily. There’s something new almost every day that you can learn if you have the mindset to do so. I am grateful that Kingsgate has given me the opportunity to learn each and every day.
GREG S. | DATA ANALYST | 5 MONTHS
Describe your role at Kingsgate |Presently, I am migrating the Power BI dashboards to the Zoho Analytics platform. This includes building the output data sets from the local sql serves; setting up and monitoring the data uploads; splicing the datasets back together in Zoho to be used for dashboards creation.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | My favorite part of being in the IT field is having the ability to take nothing and turn it into something far more useful than it was before. The creation process and watching something take shape are two of the reasons I have enjoyed doing it for so long.
JASON G. |SR. BUSINESS ANALYST | 2.5 YEARS
Describe your role at Kingsgate |Nowadays, my primary role is to be the project manager for all things related to the Zoho platform (CRM, Help Desk, Connect, Cliq, Projects, Recruit, Forms, and so on). Overall, I also assist with Analytics, McLeod, and our internal Help Desk.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | No two days are ever the same. Every day is a new project, whether you get to work on the project you expected to work on or not.
PAUL C. |BUSINESS ANALYST | 4 YEARS+
Describe your role at Kingsgate |I review our TMS system and processes for areas where technology can be applied to introduce automation or easier use for employees, customers and carriers. I create and implement new process workflows to achieve this. I am also the support expert for our TMS system for assisting users on a daily basis.
What’s your favorite part about being in IT? | My favorite part of being in the IT field is creating solutions through technology and directly seeing how these efforts have positively impacted the way our company does business. Every day is different and it is exciting to be part of a group that is continually brainstorming and bringing innovating ideas to the industry.
